INGREDIENTS:
5 cups sifted flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Mix baking soda into buttermilk. Sift baking powder and flour and add to the mixture. Alternate mixing the buttermilk and flour mixtures. Drop on cookie sheet with a teaspoon.

Bake at 375° for about 12 minutes. Ice with frosting when cool.
