POTATOES GATTO



INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 lbs potatoes
2Tbs bread crumbs
1/2 stick butter, softened
2/3 cups warm milk
1 cup +2 Tbs fresh romano or reggiano cheese
1 lg egg, beaten
1/4 tsp nutmeg
salt & pepper
8 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese cut into 1/2 inch cubes
4 oz prosciuto or salami, chopped.

Heat oven to 400°
Scrub the potatoes and boil until tender, drain and let them cool.

Grease a 2 Qt baking dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs evenly.

Peel the potates and mash in a bowl with 3 Tbs butter, warm milk, 1 cup grated cheese, egg, nutmeg and salt & pepper. Fold in the mozzarella cheese and the salami or prosciuto.Spread mixture evenly over the bread crumbs, dot with remaining butter and sprinkle with 2 Tbs grated cheese.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the top is brown and the center is hot.
